UV-Ultraviolet water filtration and disinfection
Water purification (rainwater, river water, borehole water treatment, spring water) is based on a physical principle that destroys micro-organisms that can cause disease. This treatment is based on the germicidal effect of UVc rays, which eliminate microbes, viruses, bacteria, fungi and algae.
In practice: it is recommended that your tanks are fitted with a system for filtering pollutants present on the rainwater collection surface (roof) and in the air. There are two disinfection options: external or internal:
- External system at tank outlet: UV (ultraviolet) reactors provide disinfection with flow rates ranging from 5 to 27m3/h of water to be disinfected. They come in the form of a cartridge to be inserted into the water collection circuit, at the tank outlet, just before use. Composition: inside the body of the reactor, we find: 1 UV lamp for disinfecting the water – 1 quartz glass to protect the lamp – 1 inlet and 1 outlet port -1 sight glass to look inside the reactor (to check that the lamp is still working) – 1 20m consumer cable to plug into the 220V mains supply.
- System placed inside the tank: UV lamp immersed inside the tanks: it is also possible to permanently disinfect the water in the tanks (advantage: the water does not turn because it is permanently disinfected – no change in colour or smell (e.g. for tanks placed outside in the sun). A UV lamp is immersed in the water: this eliminates any risk of micro-organisms (germs, algae, fungi, etc.) developing.
- Questionnaires and Product Sheets: Below is a link to some of our best-selling products.
- But first, to find the right product for your needs, please complete the questionnaire below. This will enable us to recommend the right device for you based on the maximum instantaneous water flow used (L/H) and the amount of mJ/cm2 injected. Transmittance must also be taken into account. If the water is opalescent, the treatment will be less effective.

- Depending on the size of the tanks and the flow rate required, please consult us regarding the number of lamps. The life of a UV lamp is in excess of 8,000 hours. Example of a basic price: for a 1000-litre IBC, you’ll need to spend around €3,500, for 8,000 hours of continuous treatment.
